Research & methodology
This is an illustrative estimate, not a guaranteed or universal result. Outcomes vary by business, programme design and customer adoption.
The calculator's 6% input is an illustrative Stampioo scenario and is not taken directly from these studies.
The estimate only models potential repeat visits associated with the loyalty card. It does not include any additional impact from Wallet offers, campaigns or customer reactivation.
Independent research background
Gopalakrishnan et al. (2021)
Research involving 5,544 customers at a men's hair salon chain found that a simple non-tiered loyalty programme increased modelled five-year customer value primarily by reducing customer attrition. The frequency-only effect was small and not statistically significant.
Kivetz, Urminsky & Zheng (2006)
A study of real café stamp cards and approximately 10,000 purchases found that customers accelerated their purchases as they moved closer to earning a reward. The study demonstrates the effect of visible reward progress but does not establish a universal increase in total visits or revenue.
Belli et al. (2022)
A peer-reviewed meta-analysis covering 110 research papers and 429 effect sizes found an overall positive effect of loyalty programmes, particularly on behavioural loyalty. Results varied substantially between programme designs, industries and customer groups.
