No-app loyalty programmes compared (2026): 8 tools where customers never download anything

“No app” means three different things: a pass in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, a card in the browser, or a phone number at the till. We compare eight tools on which one they really are, what your staff still need, and what happens on a new phone.

Illustration: three ways to carry a loyalty card, a Wallet pass on a phone, a browser card and a keypad at the till

In short

  • “No app” covers three different models: a pass in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, a card in the browser, or a phone number at the till. Only the first gives the customer a card on the lock screen.
  • True Wallet pass with nothing to sign up for: Stampioo, Loopy Loyalty, StampyWallet, BonusQR, and FaveCard on its paid plans. Square Loyalty is Apple Wallet only. Flex Rewards is a browser card. Loyalzoo is a phone number at the till.
  • Your staff always need something: Stampioo uses a scanner in the phone’s browser with no install and no hardware, Loopy uses a Stamper App, Square uses the Square POS app.
  • A new phone is the weak spot of every model. Google says loyalty cards saved to a Google Account come back on the new Android phone; with Stampioo the customer scans the QR code again and staff add the stamps back by hand.
  • Stampioo, which publishes this page, costs €29 a month, has a 30-day trial without card details and works in 29 languages. Prices below were checked on 3 November 2026.

The most common complaint about digital loyalty, in forum threads and at the counter, is that it asks the customer to download yet another app. So the first thing most shop owners now search for is a loyalty programme without an app. The trouble is that every vendor answers “no app needed”, and they do not mean the same thing. This page sorts the eight tools that genuinely need no download into three models, and then answers the questions the usual lists skip: what the staff still need, what happens on a new phone, and what an Android user without a Google account gets.

Who is writing: Stampioo, one of the eight tools. We sell a digital stamp card, what we call a loyalty card, that lives in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, so we have an interest in the Wallet model coming out well. To keep this useful anyway, every model gets its honest limits, including ours, every price links to the vendor’s own page with the date we read it, and the browser and phone-number tools are judged on what they are good at, not on what they are not.

Three kinds of “no app”, and they are not the same

A Wallet pass is the closest thing to a paper card that cannot be lost: it sits in the Wallet, updates when staff scan it, and on both iPhone and Android it can show up on the lock screen when the customer is near your shop. A browser card is a web page; it works on any phone with a browser, but the customer has to find the link again. The phone-number model puts nothing on the phone at all; staff type a number at the till, and the customer hears about rewards by email or text. Square sits between the last two: enrolment and points happen at the Square till, and there is an Apple Wallet pass on top, but no Google Wallet pass.

How we compared

  • Prices from each vendor’s own pricing page on 3 November 2026, in the currency the page shows, never converted.
  • Model: which of the three kinds of no-app the tool really is, checked against the vendor’s own description of how customers join.
  • Apple Wallet and Google Wallet listed separately, because one tool supports only Apple and two mention neither.
  • What staff need: app, web page, hardware or the till.
  • Trial: length and whether card details are required to start.
  • Left out: Stamp Me, because it requires a customer account used through its native app or web app, and the Wallet only holds a member barcode. It has its own page.

The 8 tools

1. Stampioo: a Wallet pass with no account, no app and no hardware

Best for: cafés, salons and restaurants in Europe that want the card in the customer’s Wallet in the customer’s own language, staff stamping from the phone they already have, and a flat monthly price.

The customer scans a QR code, fills in a short form and taps Add to Apple Wallet or Save to Google Wallet. That is the whole sign-up: no account, no password, no download. Staff open the scanner in the phone’s browser, log in and scan the card; a stamp lands on the customer’s card at once. Starter costs €29 a month excluding VAT (€23 billed yearly) for one programme, one location and three team members; Pro costs €49 for five locations, ten team members, advanced analytics and ten targeted push campaigns a month. Customers and scans are unlimited on every plan. The trial is 30 days without card details, and the website, dashboard and support come in 29 languages.

Where it loses: there is no free plan, no POS integration and no public API, the entry price is above Loopy’s $25 and StampyWallet’s €20, and the public review count is one (on G2). Stampioo is run by Allvia AB in Sweden under GDPR processor terms, but the service runs on Netlify, which may process data in the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses; our privacy policy says so.

2. Loopy Loyalty: the established Wallet pass, in dollars

Best for: a business that pays in US dollars and wants an API, Zapier and Make automations or location-based messages.

Loopy’s customers join by QR code or link straight into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, and staff stamp with the Stamper App. Starter costs $25 a month or $250 a year (one card design, one location, three sub-users), Growth $69 and Ultimate $95, all checked on 3 November 2026. Push messages and customers are unlimited on every plan, and data export is listed on every plan. The trial is 15 days. Where it loses: the shortest trial among the Wallet tools here, dollar pricing only, no stated dashboard languages, and a jump to $69 for a second location.

3. StampyWallet: the cheapest Wallet pass, from France

Best for: a French business that wants the lowest euro price and staff scanning from a web page.

Essential costs €20 a month excluding VAT for one location, Growth €40 adds automatic messages, reports, 200 texts a month and API and POS connections, and Network starts at €90 for several locations. Customers scan a QR code and tap Add; staff scan from a web page on their phone with no app, and offline stamps sync later. Customers without a Wallet get the card in the browser or as a PDF by email. The trial is 30 days with no card, data is hosted in Strasbourg, and cards keep working after cancellation. Where it loses: a French-first product with a four-language website, no reviews we could find, and €90 and up for several locations.

4. BonusQR: a Wallet pass on a free plan

Best for: a very small business that wants a Wallet card for nothing and can live without push messages or staff logins.

BonusQR’s free plan has no time limit and includes Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, with one manager login and no push or email news. Basic costs $22 a month at list price or $20 billed quarterly and adds employee logins; Premium costs $79 or $71 quarterly. Where it loses: the free plan is a single login, extra locations are an add-on with no price on the page, and the company’s own ranking articles place itself first.

5. FaveCard: free in the browser, Wallet on the paid plans

Best for: a business that wants to try a digital card at zero cost and accepts a browser card until it upgrades.

The free plan gives one browser card with unlimited customers and stamps; new customers do not get an Apple Wallet or Google Wallet pass. Pro, at €29 a month when viewed from Sweden, adds the Wallet passes, and Business at €49 adds campaigns, CSV export and team accounts. New accounts get the paid features for 30 days without a card. Where it loses: the free tier is the browser model with all its limits, one card at a time until Business, and no reviews we could find.

6. Square Loyalty: no app, but a Square till

Best for: a business already on Square POS that wants loyalty built into checkout.

Customers join at the Square point of sale, through Square Online, Square Invoices or a sign-up link, and can add an Apple Wallet pass. In the UK it costs £25 a month per location for up to 500 loyalty visits, £45 for 501 to 1,500 and £65 above that, where a loyalty visit is an enrolment, a point earned or a reward redeemed. The trial is 30 days. Where it loses: it is not offered for use with another till, the pass is Apple Wallet only, and the price rises with visits and locations.

7. Flex Rewards: a browser card with a kiosk

Best for: a shop that wants customers to stamp themselves on a tablet at the counter.

Flex Rewards charges $36 a month, billed as £26, CAD 46, AUD 48 or SGD 48, for one store with two card slots; an extra store costs $14.50 and an extra card slot $10. The page promises no app for customers and a browser version of the card, with hands-free kiosk mode and stamping from any device you own. The trial is 30 days but needs card details. Where it loses: Apple Wallet and Google Wallet are not mentioned on the pricing page, so there is no lock-screen card, and the add-ons add up.

8. Loyalzoo: a phone number at the till

Best for: a business that wants loyalty inside Clover, Epos Now, Square or Shopify, or sells memberships.

Loyalzoo is built around the till: customers are registered and looked up there, with an optional branded web app and, per the pricing page, Apple and Google Wallet passes. Grow costs $77 a month, Smart $167, Multi is a custom quote, and the trial is seven days. Where it loses: the highest entry price here, the shortest trial, and nothing on the customer’s phone unless they install the web app.

The questions the other lists skip

Your staff still need something

“No app” is about the customer. Someone still has to put the stamp on the card. With Stampioo that is the scanner in the browser on any phone or tablet you already own, with a separate login per team member and no reader or POS integration. Loopy uses its Stamper App, StampyWallet a web page, Square the Square POS app, Loyalzoo the till itself, and Stamp Me the Stamp Business app or its StampPod and Stamp Tag hardware. When you compare tools, ask what the counter needs on a busy Saturday, not just what the customer needs.

What happens when a customer gets a new phone

This is where every model is weaker than it looks. Google’s help page says loyalty cards saved to a Google Account appear again after signing in on the new device and can be stored on several devices at once. On iPhone, whether the pass survives depends on the customer’s backup. The browser model relies on the customer finding the link again, and the phone-number model survives because there was nothing on the phone to begin with. Stampioo does not promise an automatic move: the customer scans your QR code again, gets a new card, and your staff add the stamps back by hand in the dashboard. Say that at the till and nobody loses a reward.

Android without a Google account, and older phones

A Google Wallet pass needs the Google Wallet app, which Google says requires Android 9 or later, and the pass is saved to the customer’s Google Account. A customer on an older Android phone, or one who refuses a Google account, cannot save a Wallet pass from any vendor. For that customer the browser model and the phone-number model are the fallback; StampyWallet, for example, opens the card in the browser or sends a PDF. On the Apple side, Wallet passes work on every iPhone still receiving updates.

How customers find the card again

A paper card sits in the wallet; a Wallet pass sits in the phone’s Wallet, and on both platforms it can appear on the lock screen when the customer is near the shop, which is what nearby reminders do with a Stampioo card. A browser card lives wherever the customer left the link. The phone-number model needs no finding at all, but it also never reminds anyone of anything until the next visit.

Why Stamp Me is not on this list

Stamp Me is the most searched stamp card brand in the UK and Australia, and it is often listed as no-app. On its members page the customer can use the card in a web app without installing the native app, but an account is always required, tap stamping with StampPod or Stamp Tag needs the native app, and only the member-code barcode can be saved to the Wallet. That is an account-and-app model with a Wallet shortcut, so it has its own comparison rather than a place here.

How to choose

  • You want the card on the lock screen and nothing for the customer to sign up for: a Wallet pass. Stampioo for Europe and 29 languages, Loopy for dollars and an API, StampyWallet for the lowest euro price in France, BonusQR for a free start.
  • You want zero cost and can live with a browser link: FaveCard Free, then upgrade for Wallet passes.
  • You run Square POS: Square Loyalty, accepting Apple Wallet only.
  • You want loyalty inside another till or sell memberships: Loyalzoo.
  • You want a self-service kiosk on the counter: Flex Rewards.

Frequently asked questions

Which loyalty programmes work without customers downloading an app?

Stampioo, Loopy Loyalty, StampyWallet and BonusQR put a card straight into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. FaveCard does the same on its paid plans and gives a browser card on its free plan. Square Loyalty issues an Apple Wallet pass and otherwise identifies customers at the till. Flex Rewards uses a card in the browser. Loyalzoo works by phone number or email at the till, with an optional web app. Stamp Me is not on the list because it requires a customer account, used through its native app or web app.

Do my staff need an app to stamp a no-app loyalty card?

They need something, but not necessarily an app. With Stampioo, staff open the scanner in the phone’s browser, log in and scan the customer’s card; no hardware and no install. Loopy Loyalty uses its Stamper App. StampyWallet scans from a web page. Square stamps from the Square POS app. Stamp Me stamps with the Stamp Business app or its StampPod and Stamp Tag hardware.

What happens to a Wallet loyalty card when the customer gets a new phone?

Google says loyalty cards saved to a Google Account appear again when the customer signs in on the new Android phone, and can be on several devices at once. On iPhone it depends on the customer’s backup. With Stampioo the safe route is simple: the customer scans your QR code again, gets a new card, and your staff add the stamps back by hand in the dashboard.

Does a no-app loyalty card work on Android without a Google account?

A Google Wallet pass needs Google Wallet, which Google says requires Android 9 or later, and the pass is saved to the customer’s Google Account. A customer with an older phone or no Google account cannot save the pass. Tools with a browser card (FaveCard Free, Flex Rewards) or a phone-number model (Loyalzoo, Square at the till) still work for that customer, at the cost of no lock-screen card.

Is a browser loyalty card as good as a Wallet pass?

Not for finding the card again. A Wallet pass sits in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, can appear on the lock screen near your shop and can carry a push message. A browser card is a link the customer has to find again in the browser history, a text message or an email. It is cheaper to build, which is why free plans tend to use it.

How much do no-app loyalty programmes cost?

As of 3 November 2026: Stampioo €29 a month, Loopy Loyalty $25, StampyWallet €20, BonusQR free or $20 a month billed quarterly, FaveCard free for the browser card and €29 with Wallet passes, Square Loyalty £25 a month per location in the UK, Flex Rewards $36 or £26, Loyalzoo $77. Each figure is in the currency the vendor shows.
